Since 2004, the Foundation for Central Schools
has raised over $300,000 to invest in its students and teaching staff. This support has come in many forms such as: coats for kids, school site playgrounds, teacher mini grants designed to aid educational projects for students, and after school educational programs that offer district students an opportunity to enhance various leadership and learning skill sets. To expand the Foundations reach we plan within the next 12 months to offer Central Unified student scholarship opportunities that can apply to either a traditional college, or a trade school.

It is projected that the Foundation for Central Schools will need to raise at least $300,000 per year to meet these new opportunities and this is where the support from individual donors and business partners comes in.

Listed below is information pertaining to a few special projects which we would like to fund for the coming year. If you have any questions please call Melinda at 559-320-1120.

Special Projects for Funding 2007-2008

Scholarship Program - click here for more info
The Student Success Scholarship program recognizes students’ success throughout their academic careers. The program focuses on those students who have achieved success in the classroom as well as around campus and in their community. The scholarships will be awarded at the end of each school year. A committee will select students based on academics, participation in school organizations as well as community involvement. Students will then be invited to apply for the applications during the spring semester of their senior year. Our goal is to provide at least 10 students with a $2,500 scholarship to use toward higher education.
Funding Goal $25,000 - To sponsor one scholarship or full funding for this project click here.

New Teacher Grants - click here for more info
It is common for teachers to spend hundreds of dollars to set up their classrooms. The Foundation currently provides a $125 grant to each Central Unified new teacher to help with the purchase of materials. The week before the new school year begins, the new teachers are invited to a New Teacher Reception where they are presented with the grant. The goal is to continue this grant each year for each new teacher to the District.
Funding Goal $15,000 - To sponsor one scholarship or full funding for this project click here.

Classroom Grants - click here for more info
The School and Teacher grants are awarded twice a year for those projects which exemplify creativity and enhance the learning experience. All staff members including teachers, counselors, nurses, and psychologists are eligible to apply for these grants. The applicants selected are those who demonstrate the greatest support of student development through the four pillars of academics, athletics, agriculture, and the arts.
Funding Goal $100,000 - To sponsor one scholarship or full funding for this project click here.

Library Books for New & Existing Schools - click here for more info
When a new school opens, the cost associated with providing the learning materials for a library is extraordinary. For many schools the shelves remain empty for many years. The Foundation’s goal is to help new schools and existing schools to provide students with all the resources needed for a full learning experience. New schools would receive books to fill the shelves and help to finish the media centers. Existing schools would benefit by the purchase of new books or upgrading their media centers. With your help we can fill our new schools and refresh our existing school libraries.
New School Openings:
